Those who don’t learn from history…

…yup.  You know the rest.

SOMEHOW, I missed this one in October.  There were a few other things on my plate then, but we should all make a note of this in case anyone missed it.

Harold Camping mislead tens of thousands of people for 19 years.

Harold Camping stole tens of millions of dollars from well intentioned supporters.

Harold Camping was, and continues to be a false teacher with as little to do with Biblical Christianity as Kwanzaa.

Harold Camping, after 19 years, has somewhat admitted that he’s a stone faced liar and complete and utter fraud.

I remember having a conversation at the US/Canadian border in May with a man who had a sign and was “spreading the word” before the second coming.  He had quit his job and was spending the “last days” at the border, talking to anyone who would listen.  We talked for a little while and he was quite happy to ignore any attempts at interaction of even vague reason.  I wonder where he’s gone now that Harold has run off with his money after misleading him twice.

I hate to say it, but there’s a strong chance that he’s gone after some other crack pot.

Scripture clearly indicates that the church era will have no shortage of crack pots:

And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. ” – 2 Peter 3:15-16

Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all, for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.  Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood. I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them. Therefore be alert, remembering that for three years I did not cease night or day to admonish every one with tears.” – Acts 20:26-31

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty.  For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,  heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good,  treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,  having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.  For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions,  always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth.  Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith.  But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, as was that of those two men.” – 2 Tim. 3:1-9

Until Next Time,

  1. That headline news article mentioned that he repents from false teaching…I seriously doubt there is a true repentance given his continued stance of being against the church of God. As of December 4th, 2011 he still holds that the church is totally apostate…

  2. Regarding “Those who don’t learn from history…”, I want to thank you for being the Lord’s instrument to open my understanding, finally, to the concept of “The Last Days”. I have pondered this situation off-and-on for years, an example would be ”why did Paul appear to believe it might occur in his lifetime?”. As I was reading your posting: The Latter Days began as soon as Our Redeemer completed His Task Upon The Cross and Ascended to Heaven, leaving with us the Great Gift of the Holy Spirit.

FINALLY. The ”latter days” began from that point forward and Our Lord Himself, when asked, said very directly ONLY THE FATHER KNOWS WHEN OUR LORD WILL RETURN.

Thank you for being a blessing thru Him to others. In regard to Mr. Harold Camper, I had the experience of seeing a (pardon the pun) extremely well-versed layman who had studied eagerly the Word from an early age onward, who continues to conduct a legit non-profit ministry, predict the end at one point. I don’t pretend to comprehend this error.

    Another good one!
